Ramon and Alma Vela met in Harlingen, Texas and were married in August of 1992. In those days, Ramon was a Police Detective for the City of Harlingen while Alma worked in retail. At the time, Ramon had three children: Jackie, Vanessa, and Raymond; and Alma had one son named Adrian. In 2003, their son Christian was born. In addition, the Vela’s have several grandchildren.
In 2004, Ramon began attending a church where he gave his life to Christ, with his bride Alma soon following. The Velas planted Breathe Life Christian Church in May of 2010 and founded a second ministry in Raymondville in September 2016, now called Unified For Christ Church.
Over the past 16 years, Ramon and Alma have served both their local church and in jail and prison ministries eventually realizing a deep conviction to open their own building for ministry. They have a strongly-rooted desire to share the love of Christ with every individual that they have the privilege to meet regardless of who they are or where they come from. Ramon and Alma have a heart for the people of Rio Grande Valley and have committed their personal, professional, and ministerial lives to serving their community and the people within it. They believe that when you truly encounter the love of the Father, whether through experience or an individual, you’ll never be the same. Therefore, the foundation of Breathe Life has always and will always be the same — to show the love of Jesus to all who come our way.
